Who’s Ready a for Sinister Game of Marco Polo? Night Swim Drops Its First Trailer

I don’t own a house and probably never will, but I always thought having a backyard swimming pool would be more trouble than it was worth. It turns out that some folks at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster likely agree with me, which is why the horror film Night Swim is diving into our eyeballs sometime soon.

The trailer above doesn’t give us much besides a teenager getting into an effed up game of Marco Polo in her family’s pool, but we do know something about the plot. The movie centers around a former major league baseball player named Ray Waller (played by Wyatt Russell, who you might recognize from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) who has to retire early because of a degenerative illness.  He and his family move into a new home, with Waller secretly hoping that the swimming pool in the backyard would be a great place for him to do physical therapy to potentially be able to play baseball again. Unfortunately, there’s a “a dark secret” in their newly bought home’s past, and that secret unleashes an evil force who apparently doesn’t really like the game Marco Polo.

The film is written and directed by Bryce McGuire (Baghead) and is based on a short film that McGuire did in 2014 with Rod Blackhurst. In addition to Russell, it stars Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) as his wife, Eve; Amélie Hoeferle (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as the teenage daughter Izzy; and Gavin Warren (Fear the Walking Dead) as the younger son, Elliot.

No news yet on when we’ll be able to watch Night Swim, but here is a poster of the film for you to enjoy:
